Fellow Ugandans,
It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), a civic movement founded on patriotism, discipline, unity and service to our country.
At the heart of our mission is a simple and enduring conviction: Uganda's national interest must never be outsourced. Our sovereignty, our security and the story of our national progress must be shaped by Ugandans who love this country and are committed to its future.
We cannot and shall not tolerate, in any shape or form, agents of foreign interests who work secretly to weaken Uganda's progress. We will not permit external interests to demoralise or demobilise the patriotic and nationalist spirit of our people, nor shall we allow them to determine our national narrative. Uganda welcomes principled international cooperation, but cooperation must respect our sovereignty and advance the interests of our citizens.
This responsibility extends to every sphere of public life. Political leaders, civic actors and the media all hold legitimate and important places in a democratic society. With that influence comes a duty to act responsibly. Impunity, deliberate misinformation and conduct that recklessly undermines public confidence or national security can directly threaten peace and stability. Freedom must therefore be exercised with integrity, accountability and respect for the law.
The UPDF and Uganda's interagency institutions remain committed to a holistic national security architecture that protects our people, institutions and development. That responsibility must always be discharged lawfully, professionally and in accordance with the Constitution, including appropriate action against any person whose conduct endangers the national interest, regardless of status or affiliation.
National security, however, is not the work of institutions alone. A strong nation is built by citizens who understand that rights go hand in hand with responsibilities. Lasting progress is achieved when we choose honesty over corruption, service over self-interest, unity over division and accountability over complacency.
PLU is dedicated to nurturing responsible citizenship, patriotism, integrity, discipline, volunteerism and community service. We believe that every Ugandan, regardless of age, profession, religion, region or background, has a meaningful role to play in building a peaceful, prosperous, self-reliant and united nation.
I invite you to become an active part of this journey. Let us defend Uganda's right to determine its own future, strengthen our communities and demonstrate that patriotism is not merely a belief. It is a way of life expressed through responsible conduct, service to one another and unwavering commitment to the common good.
Together, we shall ensure that no individual or interest is ever again allowed to undermine Uganda's national interest.
