What we do

Programmes that turn patriotism into participation.

PLU connects citizens through district dialogue, practical service, civic learning, youth and community activities, diaspora participation and public accountability.

How programmes move

From public conversation to visible community action.

District engagement helps PLU understand local priorities, connect members and partners, organise practical activities, and keep communities informed about what follows.

Listen

Barazas and local engagement create space for communities, leaders and members to raise priorities and share ideas.

Organise

PLU structures, volunteers and programme teams turn those priorities into coordinated civic, service and community activities.

Act and account

Activities are delivered publicly, followed through, and connected to reporting, learning and accountability.

Programmes in action

Seven ways PLU turns purpose into participation.

These programme areas give members and communities practical routes to meet, learn, serve, organise and demand responsible use of public resources.
01

District Barazas

Open district-level gatherings that bring citizens, local leaders, mobilisers and PLU structures together to discuss local priorities, strengthen participation and connect community concerns to organised follow-up.

02

Community service initiatives

Volunteer-led clean-ups and locally identified service activities that bring members and residents together around healthier public spaces, care for communities and visible national service.

03

Civic education

Forums and learning activities that strengthen understanding of citizenship, constitutional duties, national values, peaceful participation and responsible stewardship of public resources.

04

Youth programmes

Youth forums, leadership development and service opportunities that help young Ugandans turn patriotism, ideas and energy into constructive community participation.

05

Sports and community programmes

Runs, sports activities and community gatherings that build solidarity, wellbeing and teamwork while creating accessible points of participation for young people and families.

06

Diaspora engagement

Channels for Ugandans abroad to stay connected to PLU programmes, contribute skills and ideas, support civic and community initiatives, and participate in Uganda's national development conversation.

07

Anti-corruption and accountability

Public education, secure reporting and transparent case tracking that encourage citizens to protect public resources, follow reported matters and demand evidence-based outcomes through lawful institutions.
