PLU Steps Up Mobilisation Ahead of September 18 Turkish Embassy Demonstration

The meeting, convened by PLU General Secretary Rt. Hon. Twalla Fadil, brought together appointed and acting regional and sub-regional coordinators to coordinate mobilisation, organisation and logistical preparations ahead of the demonstration.

KAMPALA — The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) on Thursday held a strategic planning meeting at its National Secretariat in Naguru, Kampala, as preparations intensify for the organisation’s planned demonstration at the Turkish Embassy on September 18, 2026.

The meeting, convened by PLU General Secretary Rt. Hon. Twalla Fadil, brought together appointed and acting regional and sub-regional coordinators to coordinate mobilisation, organisation and logistical preparations ahead of the demonstration.

The engagement follows a directive by PLU Chairman and Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who tasked Rt. Hon. Fadil with coordinating the September 18 activity.

During the planning meeting, coordinators discussed mobilisation strategies for their respective regions and sub-regions as PLU seeks to ensure broad participation in the Kampala demonstration.

The meeting also underscored the importance of organisation, discipline and coordination among PLU structures as preparations enter the final stretch ahead of September 18.

Rt. Hon. Fadil had earlier called upon all appointed and acting regional and sub-regional coordinators, as well as coordinators of institutions, to participate in the strategic meeting at the Naguru Secretariat.

The September 18 demonstration is expected to bring together PLU leaders, coordinators, members and supporters as the movement continues to strengthen its grassroots mobilisation and nationwide organisational structures.
